Onion And Mushroom Bake
Source: combination of several recipes
Makes a nice base for meatballs

4 large onions, peeled and sliced
2 cups sliced fresh mushrooms
1/4 cup butter
1/2 tsp salt
1 T flour
1 1/2 cups milk
3 oz cream cheese, cut in cubes
1/2 cup fresh grated parmesan
1 cup mozzarella, shredded
opt: 1/2 cup Ritz crackers, crushed

Saute onions and mushrooms in butter and salt for 5 minutes until softened.
Stir in flour until smooth.
Add milk, cook until thickened
Add cream cheese, stir until melted and smooth
Turn into a 2 qt. greased casserole dish.
Sprinkle with cheese and optional cracker crumbs.
Bake at 400 for 30 minutes.
