Cabbage and Noodles (Halushki)

1/2 cup butter (more if needed)
1 large onion, chopped
1 small head cabbage, cut into strips
1 package (12 oz) medium noodles, cooked (or homemade*)
salt and pepper to taste

Saute the onion in butter in a large skillet until tender.
Add cabbage, cover and cook until soft.
Add the noodles and more butter if needed, mix well so that butter coats everything.
Season with salt and pepper to taste

*Egg Noodles for Halushki:
2 eggs
3 cups sifted flour, about
1 tsp salt

Beat eggs slightly, add salt, and stir in enough flour to make a stiff dough. Knead the dough on a lightly floured board, and roll out thin. Let stand about 20 minutes.
Cut into 1/2-inch wide strips. Cook in boiling salted water about 8 minutes. Drain well.
