Maple Glazed Brussels Sprouts

4 strips bacon; cut into 1/2 inch pieces
1 onion; chopped
1 pound fresh Brussels sprouts
salt and pepper to taste
2 tablespoons butter; melted
1/4 cup maple syrup
Cook bacon over medium heat until crisp; remove and drain on paper towel. Add onion to bacon drippings and cook until translucent. Discard tough outer leaves from sprouts. Cut each sprout into 4 slices (long-wise, cutting through core: add to skillet along with onions. Stirring frequently cook sprouts until lightly browned and just tender. Stir in butter and syrup until combined; heat.
