Baked Acorn Squash

1 acorn squash
1 T butter
2 T brown sugar, honey, or maple syrup
pinch salt

optional: rosemary, garlic, shallot, diced apples, cinnamon

Cut squash in half, scoop out seeds. Cut small slice off of top and bottom ends if needed to help squash sit squarely.
Place squash in small baking dish, add about a 1/4 inch water to the bottom of the baking pan.
Place 1/2 T butter and 1 T brown sugar (and optional ingredients) in cavity of each squash half, sprinkle with salt.
Oven - Bake at 400 for 1 hour until the squash is tender and browned.
Microwave - Do not add water. Cover and microwave 8-10 minutes until tender. Uncover carefully; the steam is very hot.
