Red Chili-Tomato Sauce

2 T oil
1 med onion, minced
3 1/2 cups tomato puree or sauce (28 oz can)
2 cloves garlic, minced
1-2 T chili powder
1/4 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp salt

Saute onion in oil until softened. Add garlic for last 30 seconds
Add remaining ingredients, cover and simmer 30 minutes, stirring frequently. Strain if desired.
