Mammy's Sugar Cookies
Source: My Grandmother's recipe, Elda Swavely Hartman ... from Aunt Betty (Dad's sister) as told to my sister Coreen, December 2011
I've spent almost 30 years trying to duplicate this recipe, have come close, but never quite got it. Thankful to now have it!

1 cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 T milk
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 tsp salt
2 3/4 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder

Cream butter and sugar.
Add eggs, milk and vanilla.
Gradually add flour salt and baking powder.

Cindy's addition to instructions:
Chill dough 1-2 hours. Roll out to 1/4 inch thick, cut into shapes. Decorate with colored sugars.
Bake at 375 for 8-10 minutes until just lightly browned
