Cream Cheese Thumbprints (updated 12/16/19)

1/2 cup (1 stick) cup butter
3 oz cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup sugar
l egg yolk
pinch salt
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 cup flour
jams, candied cherries

Cream butter, cream cheese and sugar together until smooth. Beat in egg yolk, salt & vanilla. Stir in flour.
Roll into 1 inch balls and press 1/2 candied cherry into center or make indentation with finger and fill with jam or filling of choice.
Bake at 350 for 15 minutes on parchment lined cookie sheet.
Makes about 2-1/2 dozen
