Almost Snickers Bars
Source: combination of recipes

12 oz milk chocolate
2 T shortening
1 (14 oz) pkg caramels, unwrapped
1/4 cup butter
2 T water
1 cup salted cocktail peanuts

Line an 8x8 inch pan with foil, spray with cooking spray.
For melting chocolate and caramel mixtures, use your choice of microwave, double boiler or pan over low heat, stirring constantly.

Melt chocolate and shortening together, stir until smooth. Pour half of mixture into prepared pan, refrigerate for 15 minutes.
Meanwhile, melt caramels, butter and water together, stirring until smooth. Stir in peanuts. Pour on top of chocolate layer, refrigerate for 15 minutes.
If necessary, heat remaining chocolate mixture to spreadable, spread over caramel layer. Refrigerate 1 hour or until firm.
Lift candy in foil out of pan, cut into 1" pieces (I use a pizza cutter).
Store in refrigerator.
Makes 64 bite size candies.
