Sloppy Joes (hamburger barbeque)

1 pound lean ground beef
1 small onion, minced
1/2 green pepper, minced
1/2 tsp salt
few shakes of pepper
1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce
1 tsp worcestershire sauce
1 tsp prepared mustard
2 T cider vinegar
2 T brown sugar
water, if needed to thin

Saute the beef until almost brown (drain off fat if necessary), add minced onions and peppers, cook until they soften and beef is no longer pink, about 5 minutes. Add salt, pepper, tomato sauce, worcestershire, mustard, vinegar and brown sugar. Cook until sauce is thickened (or add water if needed to thin), about 10 minutes.
Serve on hamburger buns with a layer of coleslaw, if desired.
Makes 4 sandwiches.
